Subway Stories
Overview
Subway Stories is an app I designed during a workshop class at General Assembly. My goal was to create a social platform for subway riders that would offer users a more immediate tool to share experiences. In the process, this extensive database of stories can provide insight into the NYC subway system, how it operates and how to make it better.
Discovery
Through user surveys and in-person interviews I honed in on the main pain points for NYC subway riders as well as potential opportunities for positive experiences. I also discovered how integral subway commuting is to the New York experience and culture. Through competitive analysis and user testing I was able to learn about the effectiveness of existing platforms.
Design
Starting with sketching, moving to wireframes, high fidelity mockups and finally a clickable prototype I learned about the process of taking a completely abstract idea and grounding it with research and hard work. Having other students to present my concepts to helped me polish my product and benefit from different points of view.
